Fake It 'Till You Make It!!

Here at 5 Dynamics, we always remind people that having Reserved Energy in one Dynamic is NOT a measure of competence—i.e., it doesn’t mean that you cannot perform tasks heavily rooted in that Dynamic just as well as someone who has Effortless or even Abundant Energy in the same Dynamic.

What a Reserved Energy means for you is that tasks in that Dynamic might not come as naturally to you as to others, and certainly that when working on those tasks you will experience an Energy drain more quickly than others (and will have to work harder, and more often, at replenishing this Energy).

Perhaps the most important thing to remember here is that a Reserved Energy is not your Get Out Of Jail Free card! You cannot throw up your hands and say, “Sorry, I’m Reserved in Execute so it looks like you’re going to have to close this deal!” So how do you deal with a Reserved Energy? Start with repeating these words to yourself: Fake it ‘till you make it!

If you don’t know where to start, try taking a few pointers from someone who has higher Energy in that particular Dynamic. For example, Kevin Daum’s article lists out the “6 Things Really Productive People Do“. For those of you who have a Reserved Energy in Execute, pay close attention! Try incorporating a few of these tips into your daily work. Even if being highly productive is not your forte, you can learn ways to manage your time and increase your output.

For those of you who have learned how to work with your Reserved Energy, what advice could you give?
