Growing by Design and With a Mentor

As you think about what you want to accomplish in 2023, you should also think about who can help you get there. Growth happens by creating clarity around your desired outcomes, by setting your intentions, and by developing and implementing a plan to move you from where you are to where you want to be. You have to design the future that you want for yourself, and you have to develop a practice to get you there.

For many of you, that plan might include finding one or more mentors. For me, I like having at least two mentors: one that has the same 5 Dynamics’ Energies that I have and one who has higher Energies where my Energy is low. The mentor who is like me can share best practices around being careful not to over index on my higher energies as well as sharing tips on how to call upon my lower energies. The mentor who is nothing like me, opens my eyes to things that I might otherwise miss and teaches me how best to communicate and influence someone who sees the world differently.

Success requires all five dynamics: Explore, Excite, Examine, Execute, and Evaluate, and none of us have high energy in all areas. Therefore, we need to learn to navigate in a world where some people get us right away and others might miss the gifts that we bring if we do not learn to accommodate their learning style. So, as you continue to work towards your goals in 2023, think about who will be able to help get you there, and don’t be afraid to embrace a different perspective.
