Respect Comes With Understanding

Respect comes with understanding—5 Dynamics provides you with that understanding

In her recent article on Inc.com, Suzanne Lucas proposes that, for a variety of reasons, we would be better off working with someone we hate over a friend, spouse, or sibling.

Let’s face it—we don’t always get to work with people that we like. It never fails, there is always that ONE person (if not more) you’re just not connecting with. It doesn’t matter how high in Excite you may be, you aren’t going to like everyone, and not everyone is going to like you. So what is there left to do? Obviously, quitting your job (or, if you’re the boss, firing them) to avoid the problem is not really an option, nor is it reasonable. As Ms. Lucas points out, the key to a successful business relationship often boils down to one word: Respect. We must respect how each person brings something different to the table, and without those differences, teams cannot be successful.

Sounds easy enough, right? If you’re like most of us, though, you’re not even sure where to start. That’s where 5 Dynamics comes in. We help provide you with the tools and language to better appreciate and respect the strengths of your coworkers. If you’ve already completed the Starting Point Assessment then you now have a better understanding of how you prefer to learn and work, but did you know that we also have other tools to help pairs and teams discover that mutual respect? Even better, did you know that these tools are already available to your company? Email us at support@5dynamics.com if you need more information!
